What is a Stroopwafel?
A stroopwafel (translated as syrup waffle) is a traditional Dutch treat which consists of a thin cookie cut in half and filled with a caramel syrup. This results in a slightly crispy cookie filled with a gooey, creamy filling.
These ones are made with a creamy caramel filling instead of the traditional syrup-based filling (although future plans include making some traditional flavoured ones as well as other varieties).
How do You Eat Them?
Eat them straight from the package or up the experience by warming them up over a hot cup of coffee. A quick moment in the microwave does the trick as well. These freeze very well – if they last that long – just let them come back to room temperature before serving.
Are These Allergen Friendly?
Stroopwafels are peanut and nut free and are made with all the good stuff – flour, eggs, and dairy (including real butter). Please note that there are nuts on the premises and they may have come in contact. For any other allergy concerns, please reach out.
Where Can I Buy Them?
Currently these are only available for pickup in Cambridge, Ontario. However, store-bought stroopwafels can be found in any Dutch store and some brands can be found in local grocery stores like Food Basics.
